Waterloo Quilters Show part 2

As promised here are some more gems from the exhibition.
I was lucky to win a box of threads in yesterday's draw so I decided to collect them in person and thus paid an extra visit to the show. It was amazing how many things I saw that I missed yesterday. I also met some lovely quilters and gained lots of ideas, hints and tips.
Barbara Cox, from Canada, gave some great hints and tips on how to do free machine quilting, whilst her sister passed on lots of information on appliqué via her super samples. Many thanks to these two generous hearted people.

Such a simple design but so very effective and "purrfect" for cat lovers!

There was a cushion tombola but I wasn't fortunate enough to win one. Yesterday a man bought 3 tickets and won 3 cushions. How lucky is that?

We're all looking forward now to the Gresford Festival of Craft in mid June.
I'll give full details soon.

Waterloo Quilters Exhibition

Waterloo quilters exhibition.
Several members of our group ventured forth for a great day out to Waterloo, Crosby, in North Liverpool, to visit Waterloo Quilters First Exhibition of their work. Well done to all their member who exhibited.
It is also on tomorrow so there's still time to get along there for a quilters treat. Lots of excellent examples to be see and so much inspiration from all their lovely quilts. The old church is now a listed building and the work to maintain it saved this beautiful place from demolition.
It is in Old Christ Church on Waterloo Road, L22 1RE.

This one was favourite with quite a few members of our group who voted for it.

Work in progress and these hexes were only half inch in size!!

I'll show some more photos tomorrow but I wanted to get a post in quickly to give people a chance to still get there. It's worth a visit. There's a cafe in the church and facilities too.

Celtic Braid Completed

I wonder is this the first Celtic Braid Table Runner to be finished after Maureen's Course? Any more on the way? How are you all doing?
Jo finished this one and is now starting one in reds and greens for that certain special day in December. It's far to early to mention the "C" word, isn't it, but we have to get prepared, now don't we?

Angel Quilt & Bags for Charity

Well done to Cilla who made this fabulous Angel Quilt for her grand daughter, Rachael.
Lovely colours and images for a teenager, and it will be treasured, I'm sure.
Cilla put so much hand stitching into all the detailed applique work.
The angel characters are up to a range of things, having tea, gardening, graduating, shopping, etc.
So much to browse in the detail on it and so much fun.

Brenda brought in a lovely collection of Bravery Bead Bags for the children this week...
and Pat Mc made another Syringe Driver Bag in a lovely pink Kaffe Fassett fabric.
The staff of the Marie Curie Centre in Woolton were so pleased to receive fresh stocks for their patients so to all our members, please keep up the good work as everything made is needed and really appreciated.

Celtic Braid Workshop

Yesterday was such a good day at our quilting group meeting as we enjoyed a fabulous workshop lead by the talented quilter, Maureen Crawford.  Maureen came to teach and guide us in making a Celtic Braid Table Runner and her methods really suited us and helped to get through so much during our workshop. This was despite the fact that we all chat so much!
Here's Maureen's lovely example.....
Pat Mc unfortunately had to leave early so she just started a smaller version.
Cilla finished bonding all the pieces onto the top fabric in lovely shades of green and cream.
Lovely to see Josie's  all prepared for the binding, so effective in stronger colours.
Jo's choice was shades of pink and grey.
Another view of Maureen's sample showing the full length of the table runner.
We'll show more of the group's results when they are finished but we must send huge vote of thanks to Maureen for such a great day, for all her expertise, hints and tips to get us on our way towards a really good result.
