A Foxy start to showing the makes from this week's "Show & Tell" at our meeting.
Mo is in the middle of making a long cushion and has appliquéd this fox design, then padded it out, Trapunto style. She has "Vermicelli" free machined around this quickly fellow and it all looks so effective.
Also if you pop over to Jo's blog (click HERE) you can enjoy a browse through
Quay Quilters Exhibition
that Jo visited in Kent, and be sure to scroll back over the last two days post to see a superb range of inspirational quilts.
Before we see any more works in progress, here's some information for those members joining our group trip on Saturday ..............
at the Methodist Church and Hall,
Spendmore Lane, Coppull PR7 5BX, just along from the shop.
This is our best exhibition yet, there arequilts, wallhangings, bags, cushions, table runners, fabric-covered boxes....the list goes on and on, and that's before we get to the displays of design work and final pieces from our City and Guilds students. The quality and quantity of the work is amazing! We have raffles, a tombola, fabric for sale, and refreshments with lots of lovely homemade cakes, so do try to come along - and bring a friend! There is plenty of on-street parking nearby, and a small carpark at the Church Hall for disabled use.The exhibition will be open from 10.00am - 4.00pm, and all proceeds will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action
Back to our own makes from this meeting. Everyone is busy getting their strips made towards their Quillows
and there is a great variety of styles and subjects coming in.
The first photo, above, is of Irene's fabulous paper pieced strip in a rainbow of bright colours.
I wonder what the other rows will bring us?
Marg M made those super ships, sailing by below and Lorna is the maker of the star strip.
Margaret H is busy finishing off a hexagon project before she embarks on another handmade one...
Pauline patiently continues working to get her hand stitched strips sewn to finish her quilt as you go quilt.
It's looking great and will be so worthwhile when it's finished, Pauline!
More makes to come soon to give you a taste of what we get up to, and to members, if your work isn't on this post it will be on the next one soon.
If you are interested in joining our lovely group there are still a couple of places available....
Due to a couple of our members having to leave us through health reasons, we are now able to offer their places in the group.
If anyone can manage to get to Liverpool for two Wednesdays a month and would like to share quilting skills, fun and friendship, in a pleasant spacious environment, please leave a comment with contact info (which will not be published) and we will get back to you with full details.
We have a mixed level of skills, styles and interests, and beginners are welcome but please note that, whilst we have occasional workshops we do not have regular formal teaching sessions. As you can see on this blog, we also make smaller items such as bags, hangings, seasonal decorations and, each month we set a block challenge.
We also make small items needed to help cancer patients.
As well as our quilting sessions we organise days out to shows and places of interest.
