Group Quilting Retreat at Frodsham

Last weekend, a group of members of Cornerstone Quilters gathered for a super residential Quilt Fest where we all made different items and had great fun.
Good food, spot raffles, a glass or more of whatever took our fancy, but essentially, concentrated stitching and lots of laughs made it into a great gathering that we will be sure to repeat in the future.
We were so sorry that Joan could not attend and hope her dear husband is making a good recovery. We missed you!
To all other members who didn't or couldn't join us... you missed a super event!

Val whizzed away and made this fabulous baby quilt top.

First day and Val's quilt is already on the way.

Margie made a novel dinosaur haversack for her grandson.
Brenda made these lovely pastel blocks. A mix of sizes where no two blocks have identical pieces.
Jo made 20 blocks towards a really bright "Stash & Slash" Kaffe Fassett quilt.
Caroline made good headway on a Christmas Celtic Braid table centre.
Debbie had a great idea to stitch her Celtic Braid in the centre of a table cloth for Christmas.
Josie stitched dozens of 2inch squares towards a stunning, blue, Liberty Tana Lawn quilt.
Mo also worked on her table centre in lovely colours and fabrics.
Considering we did lots of chatting and laughing etc., we did produce a remarkable array of quality stitching. I will leave it to your imagination what the "etc.," could be!
Our workshops were held each day in the "Sew Simple" Quilt shop in the nearby Lady Heys Craft Centre where we had a great welcome, all thanks to Ella and her staff, Ann and Olive. It is a quilters paradise with it's extensive range of quality fabrics, sewing notions and trimmings. Well worth a visit.
Our group was kindly allotted a large conservatory so we could carry on with our stitching each evening and we enjoyed good company and quite a laugh, to say the least. It was excellent fun all round.
From the dining room there was a fabulous view across the River Mersey to Liverpool, and beyond, from our spot on the Wirral Peninsular.

Malvern Show Selection

A mini bus full of our members set out early for the long drive to Malvern on Thursday 19th May and all enjoyed this excellent show. It was a lovely atmosphere around the trade stands with visitors from all over the country and farther afield. As with all big shows the queues were long for a cuppa and there were not enough seats for a much needed rest during the day but we all had a great time and managed to buy quite some stash, nonetheless.
For our members who could not attend, and anyone else interested, here follows a sample display of the quilts on show. Some complex some quite simple, some modern some traditional, but all beautifully made and they will be an inspiration to many.
Apologies to their makers that I did not remember to note the names and give them their well deserved credit.

More May Makes

Joan brought in this lovely sampler quilt, her first finish since she joined our group.
Our newer members have all done so well.

Brenda made another lovely cushion for one of her grandchildren.
Jo finished her appliquéd Bloom quilt.
Jo made this table centre as a raffle prize for our exhibition.

12 Months of the Year Quilt

Lorna took her time making this fabulous quilt top, in fact it was over a couple of years in between other projects, but it was certainly worth the wait. Just in time for our exhibition this week.

Close ups of the months in order.......

So much work there but it will be a treasure.
