Bumper Bundle of Bags for Charity

We have joined forces to help "Making for Charity" by sewing bags to hold syringe drivers for cancer patients.
Take a look at the website if you too would like to make some. For all the details contact Julie
 HERE!
At this week's meeting there were over 30 bags completed by our members for the syringe drivers which control the patients chemotherapy or pain relief medication.
The bags all so lovely, and all so different, with fabrics of many topics and designs providing a bag to suit the taste of each recipient.
Each bag is appliquéd with a little red heart!
We are also making bags for the "Beads of Courage" which are awarded to children for their bravery during their treatments for cancer.
We have received 24 of these to date and once again there were many lovely fabrics in designs to please the children, boys or girls, tiny or teenage.
Fabulous fabrics with zoo animals, cows....
Paddington and penguins!
Stars, stripes, crayons and teds.

and even Dr Seuss pictures on these....
Such a great result which will no doubt be welcomed by the cancer patients young and old.

A Few More Makes

A couple of months ago Josie chose the Dresden plate design in blue for her block of the month and this spectacular block came in last week. It was made (in error) far too large, but Pat Mc gave it to Josie to add to her collection. As a result it will probably be made into a special centrepiece, surrounded by Josie's standard sized plates.
I've added a 6 inch ruler in the bottom right corner to show the scale.

Pat B showed us this amazing appliquéd train quilt that she had completed......
It was made in strips and used the "Quilt as you go"method.
Apologies that the photos aren't a very good resolution.

Lorna is progressing so well with her animal quilt and showed us the latest editions to her menagerie.
Two Zebras....
and two camels all in perfect fabrics.
The Millennium Centre, where we meet, is used by the community. In the afternoon there is a  children's play group and there were some super Easter Bonnets on display in the room next to us.
Interested in joining us?
Group Membership
Due to a couple of our members having to leave us through health reasons, we are now able to offer their places in the group.
If anyone can manage to get to Liverpool for two Wednesdays a month and would like to share quilting skills, fun and friendship, in a pleasant spacious environment, please leave a comment with contact info (which will not be published) and we will get back to you with full details. We are a mixed level of skills, styles, and interests and beginners are welcome but, please note that,  whilst we have occasional workshops, we do not have regular formal teaching sessions. As you can see on this blog, we also make smaller items such as bags, hangings, seasonal decorations and, each month we set a block challenge.

As well as our quilting sessions we organise days out to shows and places of interest.

Bag & Blocks of the Month

At last week's meeting Mo brought in her exquisite clutch bag beautifully finished. It has taken a great deal of time to produce such detail and the result is certainly worthwhile!
The design comes together so well with colours, lining, beading and embroidery so well selected.

The tartan piping of the lining co-ordinates so well and it has also been used in the appliquéd flowers.

Here are some of our blocks from previous months...
Red white and blue was the colour scheme selected by Marg for these pinwheels and she showed us a super quick method to make them in her demonstration.
Card trick blocks below were made into a quilt top and now it just need quilting to become a super group friendship quilt.
Pat B chose appliquéd animals and plans to make them into a child's quilt.
Olive chose a more complex star and plans to donate her quilt to a charity.
Here are the blocks the group made for Olive's Block of the Month
